Sync Licensing Opportunities

Recent Placements

We work directly with music supervisors, broadcasters, TV production companies, advertising agents, and games publishers worldwide.

Trust The Process

  • The sync process typically begins with music supervisors providing “briefs” to us. These briefs outline the musical style and tone needed for a particular project, such as a high-energy hip-hop track for a sports fashion brand’s advertising campaign.
  • We take your submission(s) and shop your music to the related music supervisor in charge of the project. If a song is selected, the brand purchases a sync license—a legal agreement that grants the rights to use the music.
  • Sync licensing deals usually include a flat sync fee, which can range from a few hundred to tens of thousands of dollars. In addition, artists earn performance royalties every time the media content featuring their music is broadcast, creating a steady revenue stream.

What Our Members Say

Prong Praison"Love Is Blind", NETFLIX

By far the best company I've ever worked with. They got me multiple placements with a music supervisor who had multiple Netflix projects. What makes them different is they have direct relationships already throughout the industry. Trust me, it makes a big difference!

Lenny SantiagoVP of Roc Nation

We can vouch for DropDay and the people behind it. Some of their A&Rs came up under us at both Def Jam and Roc Nation. They have helped us secure numerous placements in various corporate ad campaigns for our artists. A very well-connected company.

DJ DramaCEO, Generation Now

Was asked to give some feedback so here it is. No complaints. When we needed to quickly find very cohesive music for a few TV projects we were referred to them. Didn't have to go through a bunch of middlemen and red tape either.

DropDay never puts any foolishness in my inbox. When I send out a brief for a project, I know certain companies will be "on the nose" when they send me material. DropDay is one of them. One of the better sources we go to.

Lvcci"Inside The NBA", TNT

I submitted so many times but finally one of my songs got picked up but I never thought it would be on a such a big show. Truly humbled and honored for this experience. It's led to more work and more syncs on other networks like FOX.

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is music sync licensing?

A “synchronization” (sync for short) is the attachment of a song onto visual media. These syncs are previously made music, licensed to a company to be used in media or content specifically made for a project. Music supervisors typically make the decisions behind sync selections.

Major labels sometimes limit access to sync opportunities, but DropDay  partners with large companies and brands, creating opportunities for independent artists. Instead of sifting through generic songs, brands can choose high-quality content from a diverse pool of creative talent.

While music requirements vary, upbeat songs with positive lyrics are ideal for sync placements in commercials and TV shows.

What are the benefits of sync licensing for artists?

Sync licensing is an effective way for artists and musicians to generate income, expand their audience, and enhance their brand presence. Here are some key benefits of this powerful opportunity:

1. Revenue Generation
Sync licensing allows artists and musicians to earn income through licensing fees and royalties. When a song is licensed for use in a TV show, movie, advertisement, or other media, the artist receives payment for their music. In addition to the initial sync licensing fee an artist receives, ongoing royalties can provide a steady stream of income.

2. Increased Exposure
Having music featured in popular media can introduce an artist’s work to a broader audience. For instance, when a track is used in a well-known TV show, film, or commercial, it exposes the artist to new listeners who may not have discovered their music otherwise.

3. Brand Association
Sync licensing can create positive brand associations. When an artist’s music is featured in a commercial for a reputable or widely recognized brand, it connects their sound with the brand’s identity. This association can enhance the artist’s image and appeal to fans of the brand.

4. Networking Opportunities
Collaborating with music supervisors, licensing agents, and other industry professionals can open doors for further opportunities. These connections help artists build valuable relationships within the music industry, paving the way for future projects and partnerships. Sync licensing offers artists and musicians a multifaceted approach to advancing their careers. By generating revenue, expanding exposure, and establishing brand associations, sync licensing serves as a valuable tool for building a sustainable and successful music career.

The number of submissions for a particular listing has no impact on the selection process. Each submission is reviewed based solely on its quality and suitability for the opportunity, ensuring that the best and most appropriate music is always considered and placed.

Rest assured, your music will be evaluated on its merit, not against the volume of other entries.

How will I know if my music gets chosen for a project after I submit?

When you submit for a sync opportunity all of your contact information will be forwarded to the music supervisor along with your music. If, and only if your music is chosen, will you hear from us or the music supervisor directly. Please make sure that your contact information is updated and valid when you submit for a project.

Does DayDrop take a percentage of anything?

How do I receive my royalties for sync licensing placements on TV?

Artists get paid when their songs are played in media content such as movies, tv shows, or even on other streaming platforms. The payment is made through a performance rights organization (PRO), such as ASCAP, BMI, or SESAC in the United States. These organizations collect performance royalties on behalf of songwriters, composers, and music publishers and distribute them to their members. The amount of money that an artist earns from television plays depends on many factors, including the specific PRO, the country in which the broadcast takes place, the type of television program, and the terms of the artist’s agreement with the PRO. In general, tv sync placements can generate significant income for artists and can be an important part of their overall revenue stream.

There are several PROs around the world, each with different requirements and processes for registration. Some of the most well-known PROs include ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC in the United States, PRS for Music in the UK, and SOCAN in Canada.

How difficult is it for an artist to secure sync and brand deals?

DropDay empowers artists by providing access to an extensive network of brands and licensing opportunities. DropDay enhances the likelihood of securing high-value deals that deliver exposure, generate revenue, and drive professional growth.

With the right strategy and the support of DropDay, artists can confidently navigate the complex world of brand partnerships and sync licensing. By leveraging their music effectively, they can unlock new income streams, expand their reach, and strengthen their personal brand.

Music Supervisors are always looking for music that comes straight from the culture they are working with. Being from a different country is an advantage. Some of the most authentic music comes from different cultures and smaller countries around the world. Use it to your advantage to stand-out from the rest!
